DMCC Round 7 2011

The final round of the 2011 DMCC season took place at the Circuit Icar that is north of Montreal. The series visited this track during for RD2 but this event was a day event and it was actually nice out for the entire weekend, a nice change to all the rain that seemed to plague the most of season.

The track layout was the same but now in the dry it was a lot faster and way more exciting. Being the last event of the season all the drivers were pushing the limits and with the high speed of the track it was very exciting to watch. The first turn is where all the action went down and it claimed almost all the drivers, luckily the crash鈥檚 looked worse then they actually were since the outer clipping point was padded with tires so the cars would come out almost un harmed. The crash of the event and maybe the crazy of the season was near the end of the practice session. Jo Thiffault was chasing Pat Cyr and in order to keep up he took a shallow line but that sent him up towards the outer wall and its where it all went crazy. The back end of Jo鈥檚 car slide against the k barrier but that cause the front of the car to suck into to the wall and with the wheels counter steering Jo鈥檚 car was sent flying onto 2 wheels.. Thanks to Jo鈥檚 rally experience he was fast enough to turn his car the right way and back onto all fours. It was nuts to see it all happen and thankfully it did not turn out as bad as it could of.

Qualification was intense with some crazy runs being put down. To every bodies surprise Jo Thiffault actually got his car fixed in time and was able to qualify for the event. Jeff Laflamme got the top qualifying spot edging out Dave Briggs and Marc Landreville. With the last top 16 of the season about the start the grand stands were jammed packed. There were people everywhere ready to watch some of the most insane battle they鈥檝e seen. The whole top 16 was insane to watch with some tight tandems and a bunch of cars going crashing into the water barriers it was spectacular. Miro and Tanner Munson had a great battle with Tanner getting the win but even though Miro was out he had already had enough points to lock down the 2011 Championship.

Final 4 came down to Pat Cyr, Marc Landreville, Dave Briggs and Mike Pollard. As usual it was an epic battle between Marc and Dave, Going to 2 OMT鈥檚 the crowd was going crazy it was so hard to tell who was going to move on. The judges did not have it easy..but they gave the win to Marc! Dave now had to face Mike for 3rd, it was an other good battle but Dave got the win locking in his 2nd place in the championship. Now it was time for the main battle. Pat versus Marc, two drivers that go all out all the time. It was amazing to watch as on both runs they were almost stuck to each other like glue sending it into an OMT. On this run Pat had a slight edge over Marc and it was enough to get him the win..

It was a crazy way to end the season. It was super nice out, the action was intense and the grand stands were packed. Final standings were: Pat Cyr, Marc Landreville and Dave Briggs. Championship standings were: Miro, Dave Briggs and Jeff Laflamme.

It is hard to believe that the season is already over and I already can not wait till the next season starts!
